Henry Solon Graves was born on May 3, 1871 in Marietta, Ohio. He was a forester and organized the School of Forestry at Yale University. Graves died in Brattleboro, Vermont on March 7, 1951. Graves attended Yale University (B.A. 1892, M.A. 1900), Harvard University, and the University of Munich, Germany. From 1900-1910, he was director of the Yale Forestry School.
